A Duke Ellington twist on the Tchaikovsky classic. The production combines Ellington’s jazzy Nutcracker Suite and Tchaikovsky’s classical composition. Artistic Directors Meridith Benson and Mario de la Nuez, bring together a large cast of dancers to re-invent this yuletide classic.

The dancers will have the audience dancing in the aisles as the ballet opens in New York city in the 1940’s with dancers swinging and bopping through the Ellington score. In the second act the stage is transformed into the magic Kingdom of the sweets in which the full cast of classical dancers will enchant the audience with traditional and familiar ballet choreography.

This wonderful re-telling of the classic story is a brand new full length production is choreographed by Artistic Directors Meridith Benson & Mario de la Nuez to music by Prokofiev. A perfect ballet for both young and mature audiences. Full of comedy, wit, action, romance and above all love.

de la Dance Company presents DanceCincinnati2013 a festival of dance to showcase the talents of the area’s dance community.

In following with de la Dance Company’s mission, we invite members of the broad dance community to take part in an event that is presented  on an annual basis.

This is an opportunity for dance companies, choreographers and dancers to un-chain their creativity; experiment; cooperate with fellow artists;  and to broaden their audience. Your chance to discover new companies and expand your dance horizon.

We are very happy by the diversity, quality of the work, and the number of artists  presented. Among the groups that have performed previously  are, AIM (Arts Innovation Movement), Cincinnati Ballet (CBII), Revelation! Dance Theater, Mamluft DanceCo.,Ballet Tech of Ohio, Columbus Dance Theater, SCPA Dance Ensemble, Demetrious Klein Dance Company, CCM Dance Ensemble , The Northern Kentucky Dance Troupe and de la Dance Company. Among the choreographers who’s works have been presented include; Diane Germain, Ka-Ron Brown Lehman, Heather Britt, James Kudelka, Daryl Bjoza, Ben Stevenson and George Balanchine
