Yesterday's Angels

Choreography: Emma Lissette

Music: "Punish", "Family Tree", "Televangelism" by Ethel Cain

This three-part work explores an internal journey through pain, its origins, and the path toward healing. The opening section embodies the weight of shame and depression taken on as an identity, where a central figure is confronted by a physical manifestation of their suffering, surrounded by reflections of the self.

The second section turns inward, tracing the roots of this pain through the lens of the inner child. It uncovers the effects of generational trauma and the longing for guidance and care that falls short.

The final section moves toward acceptance and self-forgiveness. Through a reconnection with the inner child, the individual begins to release the weight of their pain and rediscover a sense of freedom. Rather than erasing the past, the work embraces it with compassion, opening the space for healing and hope.

Cette Fille

Choreography: Rachel Evans

Music: "D&E", "Quiet Night of Quiet Star", "Girl from Ipanema" by Oscar Peterson Trio

Cette Fille (That Girl) celebrates individuality, confidence, and the joy of life found through dance and community. Set to the lively music of the Oscar Peterson Trio, the piece highlights each dancer's unique personality through connections to the music's energy and intricacy.

Fairies Excerpt from Cinderella

Choreography: Mario de la Nuez, Meridith Benson

Music: Cinderella by Sergei Prokofiev

Enjoy a sneak peek into our upcoming main-stage series, Cinderella. Coming to the Anderson Center Theater, June 25–28th. In this magical scene, the Fairy Godmother guides us on a journey through time, led by her seasonal fairies who embody the essence of each part of the year. As they dance, they take us on a beautiful journey through each of the seasonsSpring, Summer, Fall and Winter.

The Chain

Choreography: Lloyd Rock

Music: "The Chain" by Fleetwood Mac

The Chain, set to The Chain by Fleetwood Mac, is a dynamic jazz/modern work that explores the tension between conformity and individuality. Through movement that mirrors the music’s shifting energy and intensity, the corps embodies the pull of societal expectations, while a soloist fights to break free and define their own path. The piece captures both the struggle and exhilaration of stepping outside the “chain” of social norms.

Heart Work

Choreography: Meghan Green

Music: "We Insist", "Optimist", by Zöe Keating

So often in life, we find ourselves in the midst of incredibly stressful situations. We question whether the anxiety and pain are worth it, and sometimes we push others away because the emotions become overwhelming and difficult to overcome. This piece is about that moment when the stress becomes too much to carry, when we crack under the pressure.

What follows is the challenge of recovery, finding what was once normal, and the journey of regaining strength and trust in yourself and others.

"This is heart work

and you can't think your way around this...

you've gotta feel your way through it"
